  • Barry CemeteryWalnut Springs, TX (West);Photo; Located across from Quail Run Ranch, off FM 927, near CR 2592 & CR 25 91;  As of OCT 2000, a new white fence has been built around the cemetery by the landowners, & it can easily be seen from the road. If the gate is unlocked, drive up to the house & ask permission to enter the cemetery, as there is a “POSTED” sign on the gate.  Latitude: 32.013368, Longitude: -97.792391

  • Brazos Point CemeteryBrazos Point, TX; Variant Name:  Andrew’s Chapel Cemetery--photo donated by: Christine NEAL on Hwy. 56 west of Kopperl; directions by: Rebecca Allen SMALL: To arrive at the Brazos Point Cemetery,  from Highway 174 between Morgan and Kimball Bridge over the Brazos River, take Hwy 56 N to Brazos Point, 9 miles.  The cemetery is north of the church. In 1916 the trustees of the church sold the south side of this ten acres to P.W. Williams, leaving the north side, or cemetery, for the community.  Since the church was called Andrew’s Chapel, the cemetery was also called the Andrew’s Chapel Cemetery in early days.

  • Cedron CemeteryAllen Bend, TX (closer to Steiner, TX)–Photodonated by:Christine NEALBosque County Road #1135 or Hwy. 56, a few miles from Hwy. 22, east of Kopperl    Latitude:  315716N  Longitude: 0972749W; The Photo & following were donated by:  Betty WINGO–from sign on the road “Settlement of Northeastern Bosque County began in the 1850s, as people traveling west through the area were attracted to the fertile lands along Cedron Creek.  Among the first community projects of the new neighbors was the construction of a school building, a one-room structure.  It was also used for church & social gatherings.  The original schoolhouse was replaced in the 1930s by a newer structure.”   Like its predecessor, it also served as a church & community center.  The school was consolidated with other area schools in 1938 & the building later was dismantled. These directions by:  Teresa K. PARRISH–Take Hwy. 22 between Meridian and Whitney Dam. Turn North on FM 56, go about 6 miles past entrance to Cedar Shores and across Cedron Creek. Take the 1st left hand gravel road, about 1 miles. Cemetery is on the left inside a pasture.  It is posted but cemetery visitors are welcome.

  • Cove Springs Cemetery–Cove Springs, TX; Variant Name: Spencer-Looney Cemetery; Looney-Spencer Cemetery   West of Meridian
  • Cowboy Pete Cemetery–Valley Mills, TX; Take FM 56 for about 4 1/2 miles,  Turn right on a gravel road, 2-3 miles.   Cowboy Pete was on a cattle drive, with the herd stopping  for water at Dripping Springs.  While chasing some cattle, his horse stepped into a hole & killed him.  This is all that is known.

Go on FM 219 past EPLEY’s house and six acres to a galvanized gate, vacant house and a barn on the right. Continue NE 625 yards; The cemetery is fenced with steel rods and net wire.   • Cranfills Gap Cemetery–Cranfills Gap, TX; Directions byLaDawn GARLAND:  This is a very small cemetery located on Hwy 22  west of the town Cranfills Gap (just outside) and it happens to fall just over the county line intoHamilton County, TX. 
  • Culpepper CemeteryDirections by: Lucian LaNoy COLLINS–About four miles northwest of Walnut Springs on the Ray Hickock place, now owned by Louis Beecherl. It was never a part of Flat Top Ranch. Unfenced, on a grassy knoll, are four rock marked graves and more recent gray granite flat stone saying CULPEPPER.  You will definitely need a guide.(
  • Cunningham Cemetery–Walling Bend, TX;Directions & burials by:Carolyn SOSEBEE On Mears Road north of Eulogy on Cinco C Ranch owned by B.E. Cooper of Fort Worth.  Need permission and a guide.  It is enclosed in a wrought iron fence.  The present owner of the land is obligated to keep it up.

  • Eubank-Griffin Cemetery–Cedron Creek, TX; One grave is on the northern side of Cedron, around 4 miles from the Cedron Cemetery; another gravestone was brought to the Powell Headquarters that was found across from the other grave, & top of a hill

  • Everett-McLennan Cemetery–Meridian, TX; Located about 5 miles South of Meridian on FM 1991; There are 2 children’s graves, & 2 adult’s graves.  Only the adults have markings that look like “EVERETT” on them, & 1 has a year of 1867.

  • Gary Cemetery–Clifton, TX;Variant Name:  Pool/Poole Cemetery–; Located on the Hill View Ranch,owned by George BOUTWELL.  Approximatley 35 graves are marked, & 25 with uninscribed stones; Last burial was in 1932**This cemetery was originally on the land owned by William GARY.  It was later sold to the POOLE family, & has been known for many years as the Poole Cemetery.  Through the efforts of Elizabeth TORRENCE, a POOLE descendant, the cemetery has been renamed in honor of the first settlers & owners of this piece of land.  The cemetery sits in the middle of a cattle field & is a knob or small hill covered by cedars.  The Boy Scouts of that area have recently built a fence around the cemetery to keep the cattle out.
  • Glass Cemetery–directions by:  Rebecca Allen SMALL:  The Glass Cemetery is a family burying ground on the northeast side of Hill Creek, on Crystal Springs Ranch, formerly the Stubblebeam Ranch. It south of the Somervell County line, just west of Hwy 56. Since this cemetery is surrounded by a chain link fence, a key and permission is need to gain entrance.

  • Gordon Cemetery–Iredell, TX;–Photo; Oldest marker is dated 1877.   Land donated by George GORDON; –directions by: Margaret McCLESKEY;  This Cemetery is located north of Iredell on land belonging to William GORDON.  At one time a schoolhouse sat beside it where church was held.   There is supposed to be a rock marker with G.A.G. on it.  This is George Alexander GORDON (grandfather of William GORDON) who died in 1883.Latitude:   320241N;    Longtitiude:  097876W.
  • Hanna Cemetery–Northwest of Meridian, TX; Entrance Photodonated by: Joy DAVIS;  Photo; directions by: Rebecca Allen SMALL: The Hanna Cemetery is located abut four miles northwest of Meridian, toward Iredell, on Hwy 6, on land owned by Earl ROYAL.  This land was owned by John S. HANNA in pioneer days. The first burial was of P.C. JOHNSON, Sr. in 1859 who was killed by the Indians northwest of there.  There are many broken and unreadable stones.

  • Hester-Williamson CemeteryEarliest marked grave is 1869.    No public access, located on the HERRIN place –directions by: Margaret McCLESKEY:  This cemetery is located in a pasture a few hundred yards south of FM 927 about two and a half miles east of Iredell on the road to Walnut
    Springs.  There are a number of unmarked graves.
  • Hill Creek CemeteryThis cemetery has at least 70 graves which are marked only with rocks at foot and head, most of them children.  The west end seems to be all children and all rock markers.   • Johnson Grave–Near Clfiton, TX;  Directions byRebecca Allen SMALL:  The Johnson Grave is located near Clifton on land belonging to T.N. Foster.
  • Kanz CemeteryMosheim, TX; Latitude:   314119N;    Longitude:  0973305W; A  private family cemetery about 3 miles North on Hwy 6 & then, around 3 miles West on what was Possum Trot Road.
  • Kimball/Kimbell CemeteryPhotodonated by: Christine NEALSurveyed, directions & info tid-bits  by:   Lucian LaNoy COLLINS   Located on Hwy 174.  The cemetery at the old town of Kimball on the Brazos River was relocated by  the U.S.   Army Corps of Engineers in 1950 when the dam for Lake Whitney was being built.  A total of 639 graves were moved, 420 of which were unknown.   The new location is three miles west on Highway 174.   Since then, many more burials have been added in this new cemetery.   Other smaller cemeteries were re-interred in this enclosure, such as Powell and Allen Bend, originally in Bosque County. Poque Cemetery, originally in Hill County, is also now in this one.   
  • Knowles Cemetery–Directions by:  George Hubert POTTER–about 600-700 yards upstream from the Rock Church cemetery.  (The Rock Church cemetery is right on the creek, literally, one corner of the fence is about two feet from the edge of the bank.)  The Knowles cemetery is a small family plot, maybe five or six marked graves, with a fancy iron fence around it. 
  • Kopperl Cemetery–Kopperrl, TX; Photo–donated by: Christine NEALdirections by:  Rebecca Allen SMALL:The Kopperl Cemetery is located in the city limits of Kopperl, TX–(it’s on the southeast corner of the town). Some burials were made after the town was established about 1882, but the first recorded deed was in 1905. The trustees of the Kopperl Cemetery received land from Gilbert Shaw of Illinois and some from the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway.  In 1910 more land was purchased from these same people.  Beside the road from the main entrance going south, there is another road at right angles to this farther back in the cemetery. This road is bordered by crepe myrtle bushes.  These roads make the divisions of the cemetery.

  • McKissick Cemetery–Lake Whitney, TX; A family plot located North of the Steiner Baptist Church on FM 1713 between Hwy. 56 & Katy Bridge.  The cemetery was named this cause it was on McKISSICK place.—-
  • Meridian CemeteryA-F—-G-K—-L-R—-S-Z—-Meridian, TX–Photo–donated by: Christine NEAL  located near the Meridian courthouse; directions by:Christine NEAL go 2/10 a mile north on Hwy174 from the courthouse to South Hill Street turn right go 2/10 a mile and you are in front of the cemetery; Info by:   Rebecca Allen SMALL— Meridian Cemetery located in the city limits of Meridian at the south end of Hill Street. This burial ground was laid out by George B. Erath when he surveyed the town of Meridian for a county seat of the newly organized Bosque County.  It was Block 41.  In the years since, more land has been bought on the south.

  • Mitchell CemeteryIredell, TX--Variant Name: New Iredell Cemetery;–Photodirections by: Rebecca Allen SMALL —located East of Iredell (just on the edge of town) off Highway 6.(going toward Meridian)  On Jan 7, 1933  C.A. MITCHELL deeded about 27 acres to W.E. BRYAN, (Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2) and his successors for the citizens of Iredell and vicinity.  One section is for those who cannot buy a lot.

Local residents say the WHITE family gave the first land.  The first deed record found was 1908 when William Andrew gave a tract “south of the original graveyard”.   • Norse Cemetery–Norse, TX—-Variant Name: Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery; 7 miles south of Clifton;Photo &    directions by Christine NEAL:  From Clifton go south on FM 219  west for 7 miles to an old store called Crossroads to at FM 182 turn north and go 3 miles.   There is a beautiful old church and well kept cemetery a lot of the old Norwegian Families (mine included) and CLENG, PEARSON, that settled the Norse Community, are buried there.

  • Pinnell Cemetery—-Lanes Chapel Community, TX; 9 miles northwest of Valley Mills, TX (FM 2602)    Only the landowner knows the exact location of this cemetery, & we can only guess who’s buried there.  Evidence of about 12 graves, but no markers with names or dates can be found.  Land originally belonged to Horace PINNELL.   J.W. COX owned it for awhile & then in 1914 deeded the area to J.M. ROBERTSON “for the purpose of perserving the old Pinnell graveyard.”

  • Preston-McDonald Cemetery–Directions by:  George Hubert POTTER–Actually in McLennan County, just over the county line, on the same road as the Poston-Odle cemetery.  However, it is in some trees and unkept, and most people don’t even know that it’s there.  I saw a listing for a Preston-MacMurray cemetery on the page, so we could be talking about the same one.

  • Rock Church Cemetery–on Hog Creek; PhotoDirections by:  George Hubert POTTER–The Rock Church cemetery is on land owned by Sandy Moody, and it borders our place.  It is way off down in the pasture, and you can’t drive all the way to it.

  • Russell CemeteryWalnut Springs, TX (East); Located off 927, on CR 2636, going toward Morgan; there is a sign.  Latitude:  320306N;   Longitude:  0974244W;
  • Russell-French Cemetery–Directions by:  Rebecca Allen SMALL; The Russell – French Cemetery is found by taking Hwy 6 to Iredell.  Turn on FM 1238 toward Cransfills Gap.  Go about 4 miles and turn onto a caliche road for about 2 miles.  There is a gate on the right leading into a pasture.  About 1/4 mile into the pasture is an ornamental iron fence around the French graves. Permission and a guide is need to enter this cemetery. The land is owned by H.A. Burden.

  • Scrutchfield Cemetery–Valley Mills, TX; Photo Historical Marker–Donated by: Jane FIELDCAMP; Variant Name:  Searsville Cemetery; Received a historical marker in 1999.    A beautiful, fenced cemetery that is well maintained.  Bob ALLEN  has transcribed  this cemetery, & can give you a “tour”.  Directions:  Located NW of Valley Mills, TX; 3-4 miles on Hwy 6, turn left on Hwy 854.  There’s a sign on the gate.
  • Searsville Cemetery–Valley Mills, TX; Variant Name:  Scrutchfield Cemetery
  • Shuler Cemetery–directions & burials donated by:  Carolyn SOSEBEE–This burial spot was located in Bosque County until it was relocated to Whitney Cemetery in Whitney, Hill County, Texas because of the Whitney Dam.  The information given here is copied from the U.S. Corp of Engineer’s records.  10 graves were listed as unknown. 
  • Smith-Bends Coon Creek CemeterySmiths Bend, TX;  Variant Name:  Coon Creek Cemetery; Entrance & Historical Marker by:  Linda BAKER; John J. & Margaret SMITH were the founders of this cemetery.  Their son, Burton SMITH, was the first burial here. Latitude: 314943N Longitude:0972034W Located on Fm #2114,   right  below the dam at Lake Whitney.;

  • Smith-Pitts Cemetery–Directions by: Rebecca Allen SMALL; To find the Smith – Pitts Cemetery, take Hwy 6 to Iredell and turn on FM 1238 toward Cransfills Gap.  About 4 miles down this road, turn onto a caliche road and go for about a mile.  There is a gate on the right leading into a pasture. A mile or so into the pasture is a white picket fence surrounding the graves.  Permission and a key are required for entrance.

Go two and 1/2 miles to a new rock entrance on the right. Just to the left of the entrance, near an electric pole, are some graves. Many of the graves are unmarked except by rocks.

  • Walling Bend CemeteryAll these graves were moved to Whtiney Cemetery when the Whitney Dam was built. Directions & burials by: Carolyn SOSEBEE–In Bosque County  near Greenwade Crossing on the Brazos River, later a Ferry, and where in 1912 an iron bridge was erected by Bosque and Hill Counties, there was a community called Walling Bend.  The cemetery there was relocated to Whitney, Hill County, Texas when the Whitney Dam was built.  The following information was copied from the records at the Corp of Engineers office at Lake Whitney.  There were also 101 unknown graves and 1 grave listed as a Mexican Grave.
