Chase Cemetery

CHASE CEMETERY
Chase Cemetery is so called because it is located about a mile from the early day Chase post office.  It is the property of Zion United Church, 1411 FM 219, Clifton, Texas 76634.  The church was originally located adjacent to the cemetery, but in 1913 the church was moved to Womack to be near the center of the mostly German community.  Most area ethnically German residents had immigrated to Bosque County via Washington County.  There are large numbers of concrete blocks level with the ground and with metal funeral markers imbedded in them.  (This was done often long after burial before all knowledge was lost of those buried in once unmarked graves.  These are referenced in the following list of those interred in Chase Cemetery by “Flat F”.)  Chase Cemetery is located about three miles north of the Womack community.  Much of the information on the burials in this cemetery has been taken from tombstones and gleaned from church records.  When stone dates differ from church records, the church dates are shown in parentheses.
Some names appear on church cemetery records; however, there are no markers of any kind to indicate the whereabouts of the graves of these individuals.
