Services for Mary Florence Wylie Sosebee, 84, of 1504 31st Street in Lubbock were scheduled in the Abernathy Church of Christ, Condy Billingsly, minister, officiated, assisted by Travis Boyd, minister of the Ropesville Church of Christ.
Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock with Chambers Funeral Home in charge.  She died at 7:00 a.m. Sunday in Highland Hospital in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.  A native of Arkansas, she moved to Falls County, Texas when she was six months old.  Mrs. Sosebee moved to the Abernathy area in 1926 and has lived in Lubbock since 1945. Survivors include a son, G. W. Sosebee of Ropesville, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. M. T. Woods of Downey, California and Mrs. D.D. Skipper of Abernathy, Texas; three brothers, Oscar Wylie of Lockney, Texas, Ross Wylie of Hillsboro, Texas and Ira Wylie of Fort Worth, Texas; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mary Florence Wylie Sosebee was the wife of John Franklin  Sosebee. ( Mary Florence Wylie was b. June 8, 1888 in Hope, Hempstead County, Arkansas; d. May 20, 1973 in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas) John Franklin Sosebee was the son of one of the pioneers of Bosque County, Texas.  His parents were George Washington and Alice Catherine Pierce Sosebee.
