S. E. Golden
S. E. Golden, retired farmer and long time resident of this section passed away Thursday, January 2nd at 10:20 p.m. at the family home here. Had Mr. Golden lived until May 17 of this year he would have been seventy-three years of age, having been born in the state of Alabama on Ma 17, 1868. At an early age he came to Texas and on November 26, 1888 he was married to Miss Anna Elizabeth Hendricks, who preceded him in death on March 1st 1915. To this union 10 children were born, nine of whom survive.  On March 1st, 1916 he was again married to Mrs. Clara Jones who now survives him. Mr. Golden was a staunch member of the Methodist church, Rev. F. L. Wilshire, pastor of the First Methodist Church here, assisted by Rev. D. D. Tidwell, pastor of the First Baptist Church, conducted the funeral services which were held at the Methodist church here Friday afternoon, January 3rd.  Beside the widow, Mr. Golden is survived by four sons and five daughters, namely, Lee and Emory Golden of De Leon, Ollie Golden, of Quannah, Texas and
Lucius Golden of Iredell, Texas; Mesdames Tessie Brownlee and Sally Coan of De Leon, Mrs. Mae Patterson of Meridian, Texas; Mrs. Eulan Patterson of Dallas and Mrs. Addie Bownam of Iredell.  After funeral services at the Methodist church here, the body was carried to Iredell where interment was made in the Iredell cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased, with funeral arrangements in charge of Higginbotham’s Funeral Home.
