Ruth Hardwick, 92, of Meridian, died Sat. afternoon 18 Nov 1989 at the Meridian Geriatric Center. Services were held on Mon., Nov 20 at 11 am at the Meridian First Methodist Church with Rev. Stephens and Rev. Melanie Soulen officiating. Burial was inMeridian Cemetery with Lawson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Born Ruth Lucille BROWN, on 19 July 1897, to the late Martin & Helen Canuteson Brown, Ruth was raised, & went to school in the Meridian area. Ruth wed William Asbury Hardwick on Oct. 19, 1913 at Meridian, & he preceded her in death on 20 Nov. 1970. The couple lived in various parts of Texas, inlcuding Walnut Springs, before returning to Merdian in 1958. Ruth was a homemaker, and a member of the Meridian First united Methodist Church. Survivors: 2 daughters: Thelma Frances Sloan of Temple, and Hazel Lucille Hogan of Arlington; a son: Carrol Keith Hardwick of London, England; a sister, Mrs. Alcie Beach of Meridian; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bill Hardcastle, C.K. Word, Henry Bass, Buzz Spitzer, Junior Jones, & Moize Adney.
