Katie Hutchison

Funeral services were held for Katie Ferrell Bearden Hutchison, 93, on Monday, Jan. 6, 2003 at the Clifton Funeral
Home Chapel, with Rev. Don Bearden and Rev. Bill Connally officiating. Hutchison was born on May 6, 1909, in Fairview,
Texas, to Arthur Crumbley Bearden and Henrietta Moore Bearden. She passed away on Jan. 4, 2003. She attended the Fairview
school system, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Valley Mills. She participated in Sunday School classes,
other church functions, and she helped with serving the senior citizens at the City Hall in Valley Mills. Hutchison, or
Aunt Katie, as she was called by most people, enjoyed doing her own yard work, growing plants and flowers, doing
needlework, and entertaining her friends and family with wonderful meals. She married Fred Hutchison on Sept. 18, 1943, in
Fort Worth, where she spent the majority of her married life and her working life with Globe Laboratories. After their
retirement, the Hutchisons purchas!
ed a home in Valley Mills. She continued to live there for several years after Fred’s death on July 13, 1978. They were
married for 35 years. Later, in 1999, with declining health, She chose to move to the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home,
selling both her house in Valley Mills and the farm in Cayote. Hutchison was preceded in death by her husband, Fred
Hutchison, in 1978; her parents; two sisters, Iva Bearden McMillan and Mattie Bearden McMillan; and four brothers, Benny
Rush Bearden, Ray Bearden, Audie Bearden, and Frank Bearden. She is survived by one sister, Florence Bearden Downey, along
with six nieces, Helen Blassingame, Catherine Dorough, Edna Gilmore, Joyce Higginbotham, Bessie Mounger, and Florence
Sadler; and seven nephews, Wendell Bearden, Donald Bearden, Bobbie Bearden, Bobby Ray Bearden, Clark McMillan, Jack
McMillan, and Virgil McMillan. Everyone who came in contact with her knew she was very independent and full of wit and
humor. She was blessed with a long life !
but will be missed by her family and friends. Pallbearers were Clark McMillan, John McMillan, Donald Bearden, Bobbie
Bearden, Bart Bearden, and Bert Reyna. Internment was in the Clifton Memorial Cemetery in Clifton under the direction of
Clifton Funeral Home.
