Josephine Victoria Urban was born to Joseph Urban and Ella Sommerfeld Urban on January 17, 1931 in Bosque County and grew up in the Smith Bend ? Coon Creek communities, graduating from Clifton High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Billie Earl Gouldman, on September 6, 1952 in Harris County, Texas. Most of their married life was spent in the Houston-Baytown area. They enjoyed hunting and fishing together and often traveled in their private plane. In 1992, they returned to Bosque County to build their retirement home, but Billie preceded Josephine in death in May, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and son-in-law, Bruce Rowland, who died in December, 1999. Josephine remained active in the Laguna Park community, among family and life-long friends who loved her. Her quilting was admired by all, and was cherished as gifts by her family and friends. At the time of her death she was working on a quilting project for her children. She was a faithful member of the congregational family of First Baptist Church, Laguna Park. She was a member of the Bluebonnet Club and regularly played dominoes. Josephine was treasurer of theSmith Bend ? Coon Creek Cemetery Association. She and a double first cousin together pursued the genealogy of their shared ancestry, enjoying great fun, joy and excitement over their discoveries.  “Josie” is survived by her children, Janice Rowland of Baytown and Steven Gouldman and wife Karen of Tampa, Florida; sister Ella Poston of Waco; brothers, Joe Urban of Waco and Bobby Urban of Dickinson; grandson Brandon Rowland of Baytown; special aunt, Ann Urban Sommerfeld and double first cousins Helen Sommerfeld Amundson and Patricia Sommerfeld Lyon of Clifton; brothers-in-law, Jake Gouldman and wife Jean, Reuben Gouldman and wife Ruby, of Laguna Park, Tat Gouldman and wife Jimmie, Clyde Gouldman and wife Dorothy of Houston; sister-in-law Mary Helen Gouldman Kleypas and husband Darryl, all of Laguna Park, and multiple Urban and Sommerfeld kin, having been one of 11 “double first cousins.” She will be missed, but will always be remembered with love and laughter.  Pall bearers were Joe Urban, Bobby Urban, Charles Urban, Don Urban, Ralph Sommerfeld, Darryl Kleypas, and Tommy Lange.  Memorials may be made to Waco Providence Hospice, Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery Association, or the First Baptist Church at Laguna Park.
