Services for Wyley Denton, 74, of Clifton, who died at Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton, 23 April 1988, were held at 3 pm 24 April at Clifton Methodist Church, wiht Rev. Johnny Miller & Rev. Cleon Flanagan officiating. Interment was in Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery Hitchcock, TX, at 1 pm 25 April, with Clifton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Born 2 Oct. 1913 in Dallas, he was the son of Herbert N., Sr. & Betty Foulkes Denton. He attended school in Galveston Public Schools, graduated from Ball High School in Feb. 1931, he was accepted by Harmony Lodge No. 6 A&M, 15 April 1935, & became a shriner in 1941. He was a member of Bosuqe County Shrine Club, affliated with Karem Temple, Waco, & Lions Club of Clifotn. After enlisting in the US Air Force, 30 May 1942, he was assigned to headquarters 9th Air Force, 409th Bombardment Group, serving in the European Theater from Feb 1944-Aug 1945. He was stationed at Lillte Walden (Essex), England & Bretigny (Seine-Et-Oise), France, participating in Ari Offensive, Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Central Europe, & Rhineland. 29 Dec. 1945, he married Roberta Jared in Galveston, where he was president & general manager of Denton Motor Company, & Denton Welding Supply Compnay, Inc.
