HALVER A HALVERTON on of the most popular engineers in Texas has returned home to Walnut.

Mrs D L CARMICHAEL of Glen Rose is in Walnut for the purpose of teaching a writing school.

Messrs ANDREW KINCAID, A W STOKES, Mr CLARK and Dr. JONES took in the Paluxy Picinic on Friday.

Col W.A LOCKETT a prominent Meridian attorney shed the light of his genial countenance in The Citizens sanctum on Tuesday.  The editors were absent and regret they were. Call again Colonel

AMONG THE NEIGHBORS

residents are the HELM brothers, TOM & JACK POOL, Maj. SCRUTCHFIELD and many other substantial esteemed citizens. To enjoy this overland trip to the fullest one needs only the team and company of the notable VOL?or VAL?  BURCH of Valley Mills.  He knows everything and everybody and can find anything along that route except a man who endorses the action of the county commissioners in refusing the people’s petition not to build a court house this year.

PALUXY VALLEY ITEMS

MR. JOHN H ETHERIDGE of Paluxy returned home from Ft. Worth and it is said he will remain at home and engage in business.

The citizens of Paluxy Valley gave a barbecue and picnic yesterday at Paluxyville.

The wife of Mr. HARVEY MEEK died of typhoid malarial on Sunday morning.

Mr C J MEEK is rejoicing over the advent of a bouncing boy who made his appearance last week.

HULLED WALNUTS

“Please excuse me while I am impelled to take this little angel home” said Mr. JIM POYNOR and away he drove with one of
Walnut’s prettiest girls.

Messrs WILSON and PESTERFIELD have leased the Commercial Hotel from Mrs. FLOYD. They took charge last Thursday morning and respectfully invite the patronage of the public. They propose to run the hotel in first class style.

JULY 17, 1886 The Waco Day gives the following particular:
On Sunday night last the store and stock of goods of R A FORD and Brother, of Cranfills Gap, in Coryell County were
entirely destroyed by fire. The firm comprises of Messrs RIAL and DAN P FORD and their loss is estimated at fully $10,000
