My father, Arvey L. Swartout, moved along with his family from Michigan to
Bosque County in 1948, where he met my mother, Nita Joyce Nivin. They
both graduated from Meridian High School. After attending University of Texas
(Austin), they then went on to attend Sul Ross in Alpine, Texas. They taught
for a while in Odessa, TX, and eventually found their way to my Dad’s home
state of Michigan, where they have lived ever since.
