Ruby Herrington, 91 of Meridian, died Tuesday night, 8 Nov 1988 at the Meridian Geriatric Center after an extended illness. Services were Thursday, Nov 10, 10:30 am at the Merdian First Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Creech officiating. Burial was at Austin Memorial Park, Austin, TX. Lawson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Born Ruby Garber 24 Nov 1896, to the late James F. & Claudia Yarbrough Garber, in Morgan, where she was raised. Dec 25, 1922 she married James M. Herrington in Ranger. She & James lived in Ranger & Colorado City for a number of years before moving to Austin in 1943. James died 15 April 1953. Ruby worked for many years in the state comptroller’s office in Austin. She moved to Meridian in 1966, where she was a member of the Meridian First Baptist Church, Meridian Garden Club, & various other civic groups. Survivors: a daughter & her husband, Doris & Denson Westbrook of Dallas; a son & his wife, Jack & Pat Herrington of Salado; 2 sisters: Blanche Hampton of Dallas, & Bettye Alexander of Houston; & 4 grandchildren.
