Son of James Jefferson and Martha E Sanders Davis, H. Davis Dies in Veteran Hospital
H. Davis, who came to Portales about 1906, died Friday at 2:00 p. m. at the Veterans Hospital in Amarillo.  He was 76 years old and was born in Iredell, Texas Aug. 26, 1892.  He is survived by his wife, Thelma Othella Reeves Davis of Portales, a son, H. L. Jr., of Lovington, a daughter, Mrs. Othella Faye Wright of St. Louis Mo., four grandchildren.  Monica and Cassandra Davis and Teresa and Ketra Wright.  He is also survived by three brothers, Lee of Cleburne, Texas, Joe of Carlsbad, Ernest of Roaring Springs, Texas; five sisters, Kate Goodnight of San Jose, Calif., Bessie Saulcy of Hereford, Texas, Maldie of Lubbock, Texas, Allie of Oklahoma and Gracie Lee Ballard of Arkansas.
Mr. Davis was a World War I veteran and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.  The funeral will be at Immanuel Baptist Church today at 3:00 p. m. with Rev. Roy Ackerman and Rev. Roy Corley officiating.  Burial will be in Portales Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be John Sanders, Barney Snodgrass, E. A. Fuller, Otto Lancaster, E. R. Bales, and A. J. Williams.  Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Clark, Curtis Moore, James Wright, Howard Jasper, J. D. Lee, R. G. Parkinson and Melvin Simpson.
