NOTES:~ Thomas Turl LOADER was a grocer in England, when he married Mary Ann COPUS…. Thomas migrated to America in 1850…he became a citizen in 1853 (Houston, Harris Co Dist. Court), then settled in Bosque Co., TX before 1860……..
He went into partnership with Andrew & Paul Downing, and opened 2 stores, “Loader, Downing & Co.”….one store in Valley Mills, and the other, being the first store in Iredell…at that location he, also, ran the Iredell Mills, and was appointed Postmaster in 1872…..He served as Postmaster of Iredell, for a total of 17 years….
In 1868, Thomas was Bosque Co. District Clerk, and in 1869, he served as Bosque Co. Tax Assessor. Thomas also served as administrator for the estate of his deceased friend, Ward Keeler, founder of Iredell……
