NOTES: John Wesley Gilpin moved to TX after the Civil War and marrried Mary Ellen New. He fought with the Union army. He was b. 1844 in Ireland. The family went to Ont. in 1845. His brother, William, was b. 1846 in Canada. William came to TX with his brother but never married. On the 1910 Jackson county, Oklahoma census William was listed in the household of my grandmother Lillie LaFon Wheeler and her 4 small children as a servant age 60 born Canada. John was the notary public who notarized the signatures of Edward and Mary New when they sold land in Bosque county Texas in December of 1893.
